Our History & Heritage

Since 2003, our team has been dedicated to covering the optics and eyewear industry in Ukraine and worldwide. Established as a B2B print magazine, we served as a useful link between the domestic market and global optical businesses for nearly two decades.
For many years, we regularly represented our publication and our country at major international optical trade shows across Eurasia. Beyond our main issues, we published a variety of specialized supplements tailored to specific market niches, including:
- Eyewear & Frames Catalogues
- Sunglasses Catalogues
- Ophthalmic & Workshop Equipment Catalogues
- Directory of Ukrainian Wholesale and Retail Optical Companies
- “World Exhibitions” quarterly digest (a bilingual edition including English)
- Dedicated newspapers for optical boutique visitors.
International Recognition & Events
We have always been actively involved in the global optical community. Our participation goes beyond standard trade show attendance:
Media Events: We participated in exclusive, specialized events, including official Press Days hosted by major international optical shows.
Industry Jury: Highlighting our dedication to the field, our editor-in-chief was invited multiple times to serve as an international jury member for the prestigious Silmo d’Or awards in Paris.

Editorial Focus
OK.U provides practical information tailored for industry professionals, including ophthalmologists, optometrists, fashion buyers, sales representatives, and master opticians.
Our coverage focuses on:
Trends & Fashion: Reviews of eyewear fashion, frame designs, and global trends.
Technology & Innovation: Insights into ophthalmic lenses, contact lenses, and modern workshop or medical equipment.
Market Context: Independent overviews of the retail and wholesale optical market in Ukraine.
Global Events: Announcements, post-show reports, and corporate press releases from optical exhibitions and conferences worldwide.
Our Current Format
In 2022, due to the outbreak of the war in Ukraine, we had to halt our print publication and fully transition our operations to a digital blog format. Today, we actively run and maintain our official Facebook community – a platform we have been continuously developing since 2009.
Despite the challenges, we remain a trusted source of optical journalism and are always open to international collaborations, editorial partnerships, and press release submissions from global optical brands.
